Couture Week is near and dear to our heart for many reasons. The intricacy, the lux fabrics, the embellishment – we’re obsessed! If there’s one design house consistently on their game, it’s Versace. The label sent down a flurry of fierce models down the runway, blowing onlookers away with both their garments and their attitude. Shades of black, white and red dominated the runway, as did a slew of sultry sheered pieces that commanded attention from every which way.
Versace is known for its edge, not its ethereal vibe, but this season’s couture creations balanced that line superbly. White, flowy frocks combined with insanely cool cut-outs made their way down the runway, bringing the “cool girl” persona to life. Slits have become a Versace staple, and these babies were high, evoking instant sexiness that’s signature of the beloved Italian label. And what’s Versace without a little bit of scandal?
Ever ones to blaze a trail, Versace’s fierce use of cut-outs was far different from what we’re used to, but gorgeous, nonetheless. Far chaotic than your normal cut-out, these babies were intended to be bold. Whether or not it was intentional, the bold prints we saw on the Versace runway brought up pleasant images of McQueen, which was delightful.
As Versace so eloquently proved through this collection, monochromatic can be magical. Intricately woven black dresses were anything basic, and they only added to the powerful woman air the brand is constantly attempting to emulate. They succeeded, and very, very well, might I add.
What was your favorite piece from the collection?
